Update – Planning Consented – Green light expected for expansion plans at Dove Valley Park

A planning application has been submitted to South Derbyshire District Council for development of a pair of commercial buildings at Derbyshire’s Dove Valley Park.

Clowes Developments are seeking planning permission to develop land at Dove Valley Park in Foston, consisting of two warehouse, and office units which are forecast to create 140 and 40 jobs respectively.

Plot 3A would host a building with a GIA of approximately 113,000 sq ft, while the unit proposed for 3B extends to about 33,000 sq ft.

Dove Valley Park is a major employment site, currently home to the likes of JCB, Kuhne and Nagel (now called GXO), Futaba and Top Hat, with companies in the surrounding area including Toyota, Rolls Royce, Nestle, Marstons and Molson Coors. A stones throw away from East Midlands airport and the M1 providing a link across the whole of the UK.

A statement filed on behalf of the applicant with South Derbyshire District Council – whose planning committee meets on 6 June – said:

“The development will provide a range of high-quality jobs for the district and bolster Dove Valley Park’s growing reputation as a highly sought after industrial and logistics location.”

A report for the committee added:

“It is considered that, whilst there would be a slight departure from policy if permitted, the proposal has synergies to the wider strategically important employment site of DVP, an efficient use of land given the physical constraints of the site and would not undermine the wider delivery of the E5 allocation.”

Approval has been recommended, subject to conditions.
