All systems go at Dove Valley Park

Dove Valley Park has been a hot spot for strategically located logistic facilities in the East Midlands since day one. With occupiers including JCB Power Systems, Futaba International, Tophat, Truma and Kuehne and Nagel, it’s not surprising that demand for industrial space at this class-leading site sustains momentum.

Earlier this year, Clowes Developments announced plans for a huge bottling plant to serve supermarket giant Lidl. Hailed as the “largest single investment in South Derbyshire since Toyota” the 50,000sq m water processing, bottling and distribution site is reportedly set to create hundreds of jobs, and an anticipated investment of more than £50 million.

A planning application was submitted to South Derbyshire District Council and approved by the authority’s planning committee in December 2019. Since then, ground works have commenced on site with the water bottling facility expected as early as 2022. The facility will become the first production plant in the UK for the MEG Group. Once set up, the facility will supply Lidl with mineral water and soft drinks for its supermarkets across the UK and Ireland.

Since this announcement, Clowes Developments have completed a deal with Hines UK, international real estate firm, together with its joint venture investment partner, for the forward funding of 12 speculative developments of over 750,000sq ft of logistic facilities across the East Midlands. One of the 12 facilities will be built on Plot 4 at Dove Valley Park.

Clowes Developments previously reported a full planning application was submitted to South Derbyshire District Council for a total of 190,000sq ft industrial/distribution warehouse with ancillary office on the plot, works have begun to prepare the land for the imminent development on behalf of Hines UK. The works completed on Plot 4 involves major infrastructure investment which will benefit the remaining 40 acres of development land and the business park’s existing occupiers.
