Skin HQ arrives in Derby City Centre

Ground floor of Royal Buildings, Derby now fully let.

Clowes Developments, with the support of their agents, FHP Property Consultants have successfully negotiated a 10-year lease with national aesthetic clinicians, Skin HQ.

The deal marks a significant occasion for both the landlord and the historic premises at the heart of Derby City Centre as the Royal Buildings ground floor units become 100% occupied for the first time in decades.

Emma Purdy, Trainee Management Surveyor at Clowes Developments explains,

The Group purchased the Royal Buildings (once a prestigious hotel in its day) many years ago, since then we have had various tenants occupying the space. More recent occupiers include Cosy Club, Conder Developments, Beighton’s Solicitors, Train Motivate Excel, Elements, Zak Dler to name a few but this deal marks the first time in modern history that our ground floor units are fully occupied. This is a real turning point for the area which has witnessed significant change due to the regeneration of the ‘Becketwell’ area which is located directly opposite.

The deal came about as Skin HQ, a leading aesthetic clinic specialising in laser hair removal and skin treatments using cutting edge technology were looking for premises to move into the city. With branches located in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Bradford, Derby will be the sixth clinic to open in the UK with more to follow over the coming months.

Skin HQ provide a wide range of treatments including Laser Hair Removal, HydraFacial, Fire & Ice Facial and Microdermabrasion. They pride themselves on patient care and satisfaction through a friendly and personal approach. They believe in offering the best of everything from treatments, products and service.

Unit 4, Royal Buildings was formerly a banking facility. Having been vacant for many years, Skin HQ are in the process of refitting the entire unit to reflect their high standards and specific requirements. The branch will officially open as soon as lockdown restrictions allow.

Robert Svan, Skin HQ commented,

We have chosen to move into Derby because it is a happening place. We can envisage our business really flourishing here. The city centre is conveniently positioned between other major cities with easily accessible commuter routes in and out of the centre enabling us to reach our target demographic from a wider radius. We hope to formally launch the clinic by mid-December. We are accepting appointments via our website in readiness for the grand opening.

Estée Coulthard-Boardman – Surveyor, FHP Property Consultants commented,

I’m really pleased to have been involved with this letting. Skin HQ will complement the existing mix of independent business already located within the Royal Buildings on Victoria Street. Demand for small retail units continues and we are currently speaking with a number of new businesses who are seeking space within the City Centre. I wish Skin HQ the very best in their new venture and I look forward to seeing them open very soon.”
