Overview
Clowes Developments have planning permission for an 8.9-acre site at Mill Street and Lockitt Street, with detailed consent for 47,000 sq ft of retail and a drive-through coffee shop and a 272-space car park.
Construction of the retail park is now complete with a 3 – 12-week ‘fit out’ period for retailers, Lidl, B&M and Costa Coffee drive-thru.
Crewe town Councillor, John Rhodes welcomed the news that the development was complete, commenting;
It’s good news it’s been finished, especially with the delays and the pandemic, which has made all of our lives slow down.
To have a Lidl in an area like Crewe South is very good news. A lot of people there are hard-working and are low-paid, so Lidl giving Aldi a bit more competition is excellent.
A plaque has been placed on the boundary wall of the site in memory of former Crewe Councillor and mayor of Cheshire East Dorothy Flude, who died in December 2019.
Additionally, there is also outline consent for up to 72 affordable homes at the site.
