Asha Hardy, Accounting Apprentice
I joined Clowes Developments just over six months ago as an Accounting Apprentice. Having never worked in an office setting before, everybody here is incredibly understanding of that, and I feel so fortunate to have joined such a friendly, inclusive environment in which to begin my career.
In addition to studying finance and accounts, I am learning heaps about the property development and management industry. This sector has always been an interest of mine, therefore having the opportunity to get my accounting qualification in an industry that fascinates me is a bonus!
I came into this role with little knowledge of how a finance department operates within a business, and it has been interesting learning about the many processes that are in place to support the business to ensure it runs smoothly.
As part of my apprenticeship, I attend mandatory classroom sessions at EMA Training once a week. The level three Assistant Accountant course (AAT) consists of six modules including bookkeeping and tax processes which gives me the knowledge and understanding I need to fulfill my role within the workplace, alongside the support and mentoring I receive from my colleagues here.
I look forward to what the future holds for me and my career at Clowes. I am excited to see how Clowes expands its portfolio and how I can play my part in ensuring continued success. It feels so surreal when I drive by one of our developments with Clowes branding and seeing it evolve more each time!
